ABSTRACT

Much of the advice that we have offered so far in this book has been organized in a way intended mainly to be useful when you are writing coursework essays. Most of this advice applies equally well in exams, but there are some big differences between writing coursework essays and having to write an essay in an exam. The most important differences include:

• the amount of time that you have to plan and write the essay; • the amount of reference material that you have available to help you; • the amount of advice and support that you can get while you are writing; • the amount of anxiety that you may experience during the assignment.
