ABSTRACT

CV stands for curriculum vitae, which is Latin for ‘your life's course’. There are many guides to CV writing, including services that will be offered by careers staff in educational organisations. This chapter, then, is not a CV writing manual in any step-by-step way, but rather a guide on how to identify the skills that are typically acquired through the study of English Language. Detailing the facts and figures of your history and achievements – the factual bit of a CV – is one thing. But the more difficult task is to talk about, not where you have studied and worked, or what you have done, but the skills you have acquired and the abilities you have.
