ABSTRACT
Elizabeth Bird is Staff Tutor in Sociology and Head of the Department for Continuing Education at the University of Bristol. She is the coordinator of the MSc in Gender and Social Policy and teaches the Culture and Education option in that programme. Her research interests/expertise span: cultural theory, with specialized interests in film, television, media and visual arts; gender and employment, with special reference to women returning to the labour market; women’s studies and Europe; theory and practice of adult and continuing education.
