ABSTRACT

Sections 11-14 examine the fifth ‘Point’ and explore its connection with the Mahādeva associated with the development of the later (southern) schools. Evidence from the Kathāvatthu is brought to bear on the nature of the earliest schools. The new formulation of the ‘Five Points’ is examined and suggestions are made as to the nature of the new developments among the .
