Genders are mainly arbitrary (i.e. inherited from some other language ~ Sanskrit, English, Persian), but wherever sex is indicated by the meaning of the noun, the gender corresponds: m. 'dog';
f. 'bitch'; n. 'dog' unspecified and often contemptuous.
