I explained in unit I the reason why I use this script (invented not by me but by Professor JRFirth) and why, if you're wise, you'll take care to learn it If you do, you'll always be able to note accurately any new word you hear, and will always be able to read it back accurately when you look at it again, even if in the meantime you've forgotten what it means. And if you don't, you won't be able to do that Once you've made up your mind that you need to learn it, the script is not in the least difficult to learn.
