ABSTRACT

The aim of Part I of this book is to prove the existence of three intellectual horizons: ‘the horizon of cultures’, above it ‘the horizon of civilizations’ and above both ‘the horizon of humanity’. The last (and highest) comprises the accumulated products of the entire march of mankind on earth. This part endeavours to provide solid evidence that ‘progress’ is a product of the ‘horizon of humanity’. This implies that in any culture and/or civilization progress could be realized if a certain set of values were adopted by the leading echelons of the society. Without the engagement of these leading echelons in a visionary process of seeding these values in the minds and consciences of the society members through every possible mechanism, ‘progress’ remains far from being achieved.
