ABSTRACT
I Since actions are commonly judged by their outcome, rather than the original intention, it has become customary to equate failure with victimhood. Such has been the case with the Ottoman Empire’s entry into the First World War on the side of the Central Powers-by far the most important single decision in the annals of the modern Middle East.
