ABSTRACT

Gender role theory states that the behavioural pattern or role of an individual is determined by the individual’s gender, according to societal positions. For example, in the field of women’s studies, gender role refers to the feminine psychology, attitude, lifestyle customs and activity range that are expected in females by society and that are perpetually practised by females themselves. While a masculine gender role ‘naturally’ exists for men, with modern society as the scriptwriter, the discriminatory role that has constrained women and the losses suffered have been examined to date and clearly revealed.
