ABSTRACT

Eleven-year-old Andrea Casula loved football above anything else. He played in the youth team of Cagliari, his hometown club. And he loved Juventus. His father had promised after Juventus’s defeat in the 1983 European Cup final that if Juve made the final again he would take him to the match. When his father kept the promise and secured tickets for the 1985 final Andrea went to school triumphantly, happy that he was to watch Platini and Boniek and his other idols in the flesh. When Andrea’s lifeless body was found following the collapse of a wall in the stadium, it was wrapped in the corpse of his father who had attempted to shield his son from the carnage and chaos that erupted prior to the final.
