ABSTRACT

Even during his time at Wilton Park, Heinz Koeppler had received many official honours. On June 13, 1957, he had been awarded an OBE, and on January 1, 1967, a CBE. In 1960-61, he had been a Visiting Professor at the University of Heidelberg, and in 1961 Consultant to the Ford Foundation. In 1966 he had been Distinguished Mershon Professor at Ohio State University. In 1970 he had been Visiting Professor of West European Studies at Indiana University. In 1974, he had received from Wisconsin University the President’s Medallion for service to international education. In 1975 he had been promoted Assistant Under Secretary of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He was a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. And in January 1977, he was made a Knight Bachelor. That October he received the Joseph Bech Gold Medal, created by the Hamburg Stiftung FVS in memory of the Luxembourg statesman and pioneer of European union.
