ABSTRACT

The fighting on the Israeli-Jordanian Front reached an end with the imposition of the second truce, on 19 July. Random clashes and exchanges of fire took place from time to time, but the overall climate prevailing was one of agreement. The most conspicuous sign of this was the Permanent Cease-Fire Agreement signed in November by the military commanders of the city, the Arab and the Jewish, Abdullah al-Tall and Moshe Dayan. The road to the agreement though was marred by random spasms of violence that threatened to ignite the IsraeliJordanian front.
