ABSTRACT

Economic cooperation between two partners can take various forms, but most of them are expressed through trade and businesses. Greece and Turkey represent two neighbouring countries whose economic relations have undoubtedly been affected by the bilateral political problems, and which used to create a climate of tension and uncertainty between them. Attempts to enhance the stability of relations between the two countries were not successful, but a new opportunity is at hand. If this is taken up, then trade and business cooperation will flourish. It will be interesting to know the future prospects of such cooperation. The purpose of this chapter then is to fill this gap. The next section of this study analyses the current stage of trade integration. The following section then investigates the future prospects for the development of bilateral trade with the use of a gravity model. The third section aims to shed light on the economic cooperation in selected sectors of interest for both countries, such sectors are tourism, sea fishing, fish culture, industry, banking, local governments and universities.
