ABSTRACT

Both Greece and Turkey are crisis-prone countries, not only because they are located in a highly volatile region but also because national policy-making tends to be more emotional than rational. A good part of the explanation for this fact stems from two factors in particular: the psychoanalytical similarities between Greeks and Turks and shared historical traumas;2 and the differences in their understandings of the status quo in bilateral relations.3
