ABSTRACT
The problem of economic development in Martinique is one of the most delicate to have faced any Caribbean nation in the last thirty years. It arises from a threefold crisis which compounds Martinique’s difficulties; a crisis of colonialism, a crisis of a plantation economy and the contemporary world crisis.
