ABSTRACT
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE fourth century the Prefecture of the Gauls experienced a dramatic series of events which had a great impact on the economic and political life of the area. One of the results of these events was the production of coins which once again bore the name Carausius. Let us look at the history of the period before turning to this enigmatic coinage.
