ABSTRACT
New urgent missions arose as a result of the successful penetration of the entire depth of the enemy’s defense and the introduction of the tank armies and General Baranov’s Cavalry-mechanized Group into the penetration, and in light of the completion of the operational encirclement of the enemy’s grouping southwest of Brody opposite the 1st Ukrainian Front’s forces. [These missions] were to complete rapidly the destruction of the German grouping encircled southwest of Brody; to develop an aggressive offensive to the San River; to destroy the enemy’s L’vov grouping and capture the large Ukrainian regional center of L’vov; and to begin an offensive along the Stanislav axis. The front’s forces resolved all of these missions during the period from 19–27 July.
