ABSTRACT
James Report The Committee of Enquiry into Teacher Education and Training under the chairmanship of Lord James of Rusholme reported in 1972. The Report outlined a completely new system of teacher education. It envisaged three cycles:
First cycle Students were to be given the choice of taking a degree at a college or university or a diploma in higher education; the latter course lasting two years and located within the further education system.
