ABSTRACT

Language in the National Curriculum (LINC) A £21 million Education Support Grant Project (1989-92) intended to improve the teaching of national curriculum English, following on from some of the ideas in the Kingman Report and Cox Report. Successive Education Ministers refused to publish the report but eventually acquiesced to the proposal that some materials could be handled by commercial publishers. The result is available as: R.Bain, et al (eds), Looking into Language (Hodder and Stoughton, 1992); T.Wright, Investigating English (Edward Arnold, 1994); R.Cater (ed.), Knowledge About Language and the National Curriculum: the LINC Reader (Hodder and Stoughton, 1990).
