ABSTRACT

Performance measurement indicators are one of a number of guides that can be used by the college to take action to remedy any problems and weaknesses that may be identified. The decision as to what indicators to use is not a simple one for there can be conflicts between efficiency and effectiveness measures as well as between the College’s and students’ perceptions of each. The different perceptions of what is most important should be considered when decisions are made on appropriate actions to be taken. It is vital to remember that the production of the indicators is not ‘action’. It is the use to which the indicators are put that is important.
