ABSTRACT

The majority of readers of Der Kreis were German-speaking, even after the introduction of the French and English sections. This fact is reflected particularly in the letters that were published, for most of them were in German. Still, only about half of each issue was in German and, like the French section, many authors were not Swiss. Rolf appeared most often, of course, primarily as news reporter and commentator, but also as the author of a number of pious poems and Christmas stories.
