Growth and integration in South China

In the midst of the 1997 Asian financial crisis, three economies remained less

affected. These were the economies of Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China,

also called the Greater China economies by some researchers.1 Why have these

three economies so far avoided a crisis? This question deserves detailed

investigation.
