ABSTRACT
In this book we have examined a wide range of environmental concerns relevant not just to the present, but also the past and future of the People's Republic of China. We felt that it would be appropriate to round off our analysis by contemplating alternative scenarios for the future, the better to see what would need to be changed in the next few years in order to achieve the most desirable of these contrasting outcomes.
