ABSTRACT
The 1990 and 1994 ARL data and US. demographic data provide the basis for projections on the age profile of ARL librarianship through 2020. The apex of the ARL distributions moves along with the baby booml1960s group of librarians through 2010, when baby boomers begin to retire in large numbers. The aging of librarianship in these projections has implications for retirement and salaries.
