ABSTRACT

It was claimed that about 350 foreign delegations attended the ceremony to celebrate the fortieth jubilee of the North Korean Republic. By delegation was meant anything from heads of state, with entourage, to solitary representatives of study groups (studying the works of Kim Il Sung) from the African bush. The programme consisted of a commemorative gathering, some theatre performances, the people’s celebratory march-past and a jubilee banquet. The festivities demonstrated, above all, that the Republic untiringly continued to advance along the one and only path. The cult of the leader had acquired even greater proportions and the desire to impress foreign visitors had been allotted even more resources.
