ABSTRACT
Colin is 12 years old. He is a cheerful, friendly boy with blonde hair, blue eyes and a likable disposition. He is playful and mischievous and he invades other people’s space. He is enthusiastic in a demonstrative way. Hence one day he was seen going up behind girls in his class to tickle them round the waist. They reacted with annoyance. When he persisted in doing this in the face of such rebukes, I sent him to the school’s sin bin (called Room 20) with a note that I felt he was sexually harassing girls. I felt it was important to take this action to highlight what I had noticed as a growing problem around the school. Girls’ bodies and girls’ rights to personal space were being intruded upon and infringed with increasing regularity.
