ABSTRACT
PROCESSING THE extracted roots was no simpler than their cultivation. Steaming, drying and crushing processes varied from country to country with Holland as ever providing the technical expertise, though the more outdoor Caucasian methods produced a better dried root. Nor did the European dyestuff producer rest after the powder had been prepared. Different methods were devised to purify and concentrate the powder. These developments eventually led to the manufacture of the top quality concentrate garancine.
