ABSTRACT
Through observation of both manga self-regulation and the creation of a new style of adult manga, it has become evident that editors employed by publishing companies played an important role in introducing changes into the content of manga series. Closer examination of the personnel engaged in making manga provides important clues as to the full character of the changes affected. In the 1990s artists and editors were involved with two major trends changing the face of manga production.
