ABSTRACT
Jesus was a Jew who lived in the Roman-occupied province of Palestine. Muhammad was an Arab who lived in the tribal feud-ridden area of Arabia. These simple facts go a considerable way to explaining both the different natures of the early communities which were influenced by the two figures and also the different messages which Jesus and Muhammad proclaimed.
