ABSTRACT
The deleterious effects of alcohol abuse on the nervous system can be subdivided into three categories:
1. Acute intoxication; 2. The consequences of withdrawal after habituation, the
commonest of which are alcoholic tremor, seizures and delirium tremens;
3. Conditions related to prolonged abuse.
