ABSTRACT
Innovation is a key element in continuous improvement. In the business world of the construction industry, there are many opportunities for innovation in process: for example, in project delivery strategies or OHS management systems. Hence, this chapter brings examples of innovation, many in the context of the IT platform, as a mechanism for driving continuous improvement. Innovations in terms of product are also highlighted, and the chapter makes use of a series of example case studies. The reasoning behind this mode of presentation is that innovation is a somewhat intangible concept and that the use of practical examples of innovation provides a sound basis for understanding.
