ABSTRACT
Unmotivated patients who fail to take part in their own rehabilitation are often described as apathetic, although the word apathy, strictly speaking, refers to a disturbance of feeling rather than of action. When used in connection with the rehabilitation and recovery of the stroke patient, it usually refers to the patient’s manifest behavior as much as mood and covers several entities that have the same end result.
