ABSTRACT

In many ways, stroke survivors have the perfect right to be angry about their treatment. They often suffer discrimination and stigmatization. Insurance coverage for long-term disability is often inadequate. Services such as physiotherapy and speech therapy get cut off. Health care providers must be sensitive to these issues. Nevertheless outbursts of apparent anger without justification are common in stroke, and violence is not rare. Aggression ranks after depression and memory loss among mental changes causing concern to caregivers (Hanger and Mulley, 1993).
