Editors hope to receive adequately written papers from native Englishspeakers but they don’t expect great writing from them. Nor should editors demand perfect English from ESL authors (those for whom English is a second language-or even a third or fourth). They do, however, want all authors to write as simply and clearly as possible and avoid major errors in grammar.
