ABSTRACT

As a practice, HTA (formerly Hunt Thompson Associates) generally avoid design competitions, but were attracted to the Greenwich Millennium Village competition because of its aims: to demonstrate the full range of technical, social and economic options for sustainability on a high profile urban site alongside the Millennium Dome. In particular we were keen to work with mainstream developers in order to show that innovative techniques could be achieved within usual economic constraints. In this way the project would be a genuine demonstration of economic sustainability and technological innovation.
