ABSTRACT

In 1961, after two years in New York, Ted returned to England to Arup’s where he was redeployed on the demanding programme of work in Spence’s considerable portfolio. This included a number of university projects, particularly the Science Building at Exeter, and, later, Structures 3’s Kensington Town Hall which was the culmination of Spence’s Knightsbridge style. However, the two buildings that Ted was most involved with were the British Embassy in Rome and Knightsbridge Cavalry Barracks in Hyde Park.
