ABSTRACT

The double name “International Modular Group/CIB W24” was commonly used up to the beginning of the 80’s (ref. 1). This reflects the origin of the group as described in 1974 (ref. 2, p. 3)

“After the completion of EPA Project 174, in 1961, a number of individual participants in the project decided to continue international co-operation on modular co-ordination, on a non-governmental basis. They accordingly formed the International Modular Group (IMG) and co-opted members from all over the world. In the meantime, work on dimensional co-ordination in building had started also in wider international technical circles, within the framework of the International Council for Building Research, Studies and Documentation (CIB). In order to be recognized as an international working commission of the CIB and to avoid duplication of work, the IMG slightly amended its statutes and became CIB Working Commission W24.”
