In a hot summer in England, such as that of 1994, peak temperatures can be 25-30°C. The hottest July day since accurate recording began saw a peak temperature of 35.9°C at Cheltenham in 1976-for August, the similar peak was 37.1°C in 1990, also at Cheltenham.6
