ABSTRACT

Squash requires a high level of physical fitness and good gross and fine motor control. Top players are expected to have a good aerobic capacity, and to be agile, powerful, and flexible (Todd and Mahoney, 1995), and previous work from this study has found the average energy cost of county level squash to be 60.7 kJ.min-1 (Todd et al., 1996). Part of an effective training regimen for the competitive squash player will take place on the court involving activities which resemble or mimic the game situation.
