ABSTRACT
The preceding chapter was devoted to a detailed discussion of the freevibration characteristics of undamped and damped MDOF linear systems. In the course of the discussion, it has become more and more evident-both from a theoretical and from a practical point of view-that natural frequencies (eigenvalues) and mode shapes (eigenvectors) play a fundamental role. As we proceed further in our investigation, this idea will be confirmed.
