ABSTRACT
In a number of circumstances one of the main tasks of vibration analysis is to ‘assess the vibration intensity’. This phrase, which is rather vague, can be interpreted as assigning to a specific vibration phenomenon a ‘figure of merit’ which can be used to predict the potential damaging effects, if any, of such a phenomenon. In these cases, one also speaks of ‘assessment of vibration severity’.
