ABSTRACT
This chapter summarizes the format and subsequent implementation of Environmental Impact Assessment and Health Impact Assessment (EIA/HIA) in Australia. The protocol for environmental and health impact assessment (E&HIA) was designed to be incorporated within existing EIA processes and while the framework is comprehensive, it is intended to be applied selectively. It is neither feasible nor desirable for all E&HIA to follow an inflexible standardized protocol for assessment of health impacts.
