ABSTRACT

Tanks for the transport of hazardous materials are usually designed only for static overloads. As a basis for the development of design criteria regarding fatigue damage a proposed method for calculation is presented, based on performed field measurements. The method is founded on the assumption that only events such as road imperfections contribute to the fatigue damage. The results indicate that the fatigue damage can be quantified with the proposed method, but further investigations are needed to implement the method in design.
