ABSTRACT
Over the last decade or so energy efficiency has become of increasing concern to those who design, operate and use buildings. That this concern has been focused almost exclusively on the energy required to operate the building is not surprising. Operating energy costs are readily apparent and easily understood— the kilowatt hour and the dollar are currencies familiar to all.
