ABSTRACT

Retaining professional or personal ethical standards can become increasingly difficult where, with a view toward continuation of employment or career advancement, there is temptation on an individual to attempt to improve the firm’s position or meet employer expectations. Contractors are commercial, profit-driven units and profit enhancement is a primary function of surveyors employed by contracting organizations. Although this position may not be so obviously displayed in a private practice, they too now obtain the majority of their work by competition and costs must be contained within budget.
