ABSTRACT

The success or failure of a project will often depend on the calibre and inter-relationships of the team members. The employer needs to be decisive and react positively to the requests for information and instructions from the consultants. The consultants need to work as a team so that design development progresses at the appropriate rate on all design fronts. In turn the contractor will need to be well resourced and be able to motivate the workforce to build a quality product on time. An individual team member can disrupt the whole project. Sometimes, however, the individual may fail through no fault of his or her own. They may have domestic problems, suffer illness or be placed in a position above their ability. Other team members should monitor the performance of their colleagues and if there are any signs of stress, disruption or inability to perform then action needs to be taken to resolve the problem.
