ABSTRACT

The most common look-alike drugs in our society are look-alike stimulants. Amphetamine look-alikes are often manufactured to resemble the more notorious amphetamine preparations that were massively diverted into the illegal market before production cutbacks were imposed in the 1970s. Many of these look-alikes are even given the street names of their scheduled counterparts, such as "black beauties" or "pink footballs." Although these pills may initially be sold as "legal pep pills" or diet aids, they are often resold as the amphetamines that they resemble.
