ABSTRACT
In France a very different approach to development and transport infrastructure investment has been adopted. The planning, finance and rationale for such schemes are carried out with a much greater emphasis on regional and local benefits. One example of such a development is Euralille in Northern France. It acts as a clear counter to the priorities for development in Kent and the two regions are now linked by the Channel Tunnel.
