ABSTRACT

Construction projects require the handling of large amounts of information. Managers of the design and construction process have to take on a wide range of roles to manage this information. The aim of ongoing work described here is to provide an integrated computer-based environment which will support managers in fulfilling these roles and provide real business benefits. The intention is to help co-ordinate the activities of people and the ways in which information is transferred in and between companies. In particular, the feasibility of using process support (PS) systems to aid quality management (QM) in civil engineering design is being examined.
