ABSTRACT

While the City Council had been going through the lengthy process of reconsidering its policy on the M3 route, other objectors had been organizing themselves. A different Inspector, Air Vice-Marshal Maughan, had been appointed and on 23 July 1987 held a pre-inquiry procedural meeting. In his notes of that meeting the programming officer reminded objectors that anyone ‘intending to propose alternative routes would need to agree the details with the DoT by 14 August. A plan showing alternative proposals will be published in the press by 30 August.’
